about me

Jolynn "JoJo" Ferguson

Also known as "Krishnaa Devi" in the yoga world.

yoga journey

In 2008, my yoga journey unexpectedly began when I saw a flyer offering free yoga week at Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. I fell in love with the whole concept of the yoga. I decided to visit Sivananda Yoga Ranch in Woodburne, NY, for a Deaf Yoga Retreat Weekend.

I knew I found a second home, so I signed up for the "Teachers Training Course" following the summer of 2009. I received the "Yoga Siromani" certification when I completed 200 hours of training. Later in 2014, I received my certification to teach children yoga. I also studied in Chair Yoga, Senior Yoga, Pregnancy Yoga, Parents/Children Yoga, and Positive Thinking Yoga.

I have been teaching yoga since 2009. I am very passionate about my family, pets, scrapbooking, reading books, photography, yoga, philosophy, and volunteering with various events.

Trail Selfie

Visual description

A close up selfie of a woman with gray and brown hair in braids, wearing glasses and dangly earrings, sticking her tongue out with a playful expression. She wears a maroon t shirt and a backpack with an orange strap, standing on a dirt trail surrounded by dense green woods.

my learning journey

Growing up, I moved through a lot of different schools and a lot of different ways of communicating. From deaf schools to mainstream classrooms to community colleges and universities, both private and public, including a Deaf university, my education was anything but ordinary. I learned through ASL, SEE, oral communication, and total communication. Looking back, all of that variety taught me more than I realized at the time, and shaped me in ways I'm still discovering.
